الفجرAL-FAJRThe Dawn

بِسْمِbismiٱللَّهِllāhiٱلرَّحْمَٰنِr-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِr-raḥīmIn the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.وَٱلْفَجْرِwal-fajr۝١(1)By the daybreak.وَلَيَالٍwalayālinعَشْرٖʕašr۝٢(2)And ten nights.وَٱلشَّفْعِwaš-šafʕiوَٱلْوَتْرِwal-watr۝٣(3)And the even and the odd.وَٱلَّيْلِwallayliإِذَا'iḏāيَسْرِyasr۝٤(4)And the night as it recedes.هَلْhalفِىذَٰلِكَḏālikaقَسَمٞqasamunلِّذِىliḏīحِجْرٍḥijr۝٥(5)Is there in this an oath for a rational person?أَلَمْ'alamتَرَtaraكَيْفَkayfaفَعَلَfaʕalaرَبُّكَrabbukaبِعَادٍbiʕād۝٦(6)Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Aad?إِرَمَ'iramaذَاتِḏātiٱلْعِمَادِl-ʕimād۝٧(7)Erum of the pillars.ٱلَّتِىallatīلَمْlamيُخْلَقْyuḵlaqمِثْلُهَاmiṯluhāفِىٱلْبِلَٰدِl-bilād۝٨(8)The like of which was never created in the land.وَثَمُودَwaṯamūdaٱلَّذِينَllaḏīnaجَابُوا۟jābūٱلصَّخْرَṣ-ṣaḵraبِٱلْوَادِbil-wād۝٩(9)And Thamood—those who carved the rocks in the valley.وَفِرْعَوْنَwafirʕawnaذِىḏīٱلْأَوْتَادِl-'awtād۝١٠(10)And Pharaoh of the Stakes.ٱلَّذِينَallaḏīnaطَغَوْا۟ṭaḡawفِىٱلْبِلَٰدِl-bilād۝١١(11)Those who committed excesses in the lands.فَأَكْثَرُوا۟fa'akṯarūفِيهَاfīhāٱلْفَسَادَl-fasād۝١٢(12)And spread much corruption therein.فَصَبَّfaṣabbaعَلَيْهِمْʕalayhimرَبُّكَrabbukaسَوْطَsawṭaعَذَابٍʕaḏāb۝١٣(13)So your Lord poured down upon them a scourge of punishment.إِنَّ'innaرَبَّكَrabbakaلَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِlabil-mirṣād۝١٤(14)Your Lord is on the lookout.فَأَمَّاfa'ammāٱلْإِنسَٰنُl-'insānuإِذَا'iḏāمَاٱبْتَلَىٰهُbtalāhuرَبُّهُۥrabbuhūفَأَكْرَمَهُۥfa'akramahūوَنَعَّمَهُۥwanaʕʕamahūفَيَقُولُfayaqūluرَبِّىٓrabbī~أَكْرَمَنِ'akraman۝١٥(15)As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and honors him, and prospers him, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”وَأَمَّآwa'ammā~إِذَا'iḏāمَاٱبْتَلَىٰهُbtalāhuفَقَدَرَfaqadaraعَلَيْهِʕalayhiرِزْقَهُۥrizqahūفَيَقُولُfayaqūluرَبِّىٓrabbī~أَهَٰنَنِ'ahānan۝١٦(16)But whenever He tests him, and restricts his livelihood for him, he says, “My Lord has insulted me.”كَلَّاۖkallā  بَلbalلَّاتُكْرِمُونَtukrimūnaٱلْيَتِيمَl-yatīm۝١٧(17)Not at all. But you do not honor the orphan.وَلَاwalāتَحَٰٓضُّونَtaḥā~ḍḍūnaعَلَىٰʕalāطَعَامِṭaʕāmiٱلْمِسْكِينِl-miskīn۝١٨(18)And you do not urge the feeding of the poor.وَتَأْكُلُونَwata'kulūnaٱلتُّرَاثَt-turāṯaأَكْلٗا'aklanلَّمّٗاlammā۝١٩(19)And you devour inheritance with all greed.وَتُحِبُّونَwatuḥibbūnaٱلْمَالَl-mālaحُبّٗاḥubbanجَمّٗاjammā۝٢٠(20)And you love wealth with immense love.كَلَّآkallā~إِذَا'iḏāدُكَّتِdukkatiٱلْأَرْضُl-'arḍuدَكّٗاdakkanدَكّٗاdakkā۝٢١(21)No—when the earth is leveled, pounded, and crushed.وَجَآءَwajā~'aرَبُّكَrabbukaوَٱلْمَلَكُwal-malakuصَفّٗاṣaffanصَفّٗاṣaffā۝٢٢(22)And your Lord comes, with the angels, row after row.وَجِا۟ىٓءَwajī~'aيَوْمَئِذِۭyawma'iḏinبِجَهَنَّمَۚbijahannama ,يَوْمَئِذٖyawma'iḏinيَتَذَكَّرُyataḏakkaruٱلْإِنسَٰنُl-'insānuوَأَنَّىٰwa'annāلَهُlahuٱلذِّكْرَىٰḏ-ḏikrā۝٢٣(23)And on that Day, Hell is brought forward. On that Day, man will remember, but how will remembrance avail him?يَقُولُyaqūluيَٰلَيْتَنِىyālaytanīقَدَّمْتُqaddamtuلِحَيَاتِىliḥayātī۝٢٤(24)He will say, “If only I had forwarded for my life.”فَيَوْمَئِذٖfayawma'iḏinلَّايُعَذِّبُyuʕaḏḏibuعَذَابَهُۥٓʕaḏābahū~أَحَدٞ'aḥad۝٢٥(25)On that Day, none will punish as He punishes.وَلَاwalāيُوثِقُyūṯiquوَثَاقَهُۥٓwaṯāqahū~أَحَدٞ'aḥad۝٢٦(26)And none will shackle as He shackles.يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَاyā~'ayyatuhāٱلنَّفْسُn-nafsuٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُl-muṭma'innah۝٢٧(27)But as for you, O tranquil soul.ٱرْجِعِىٓirjiʕī~إِلَىٰ'ilāرَبِّكِrabbikiرَاضِيَةٗrāḍiyatanمَّرْضِيَّةٗmarḍiyyah۝٢٨(28)Return to your Lord, pleased and accepted.فَٱدْخُلِىfadḵulīفِىعِبَٰدِىʕibādī۝٢٩(29)Enter among My servants.وَٱدْخُلِىwadḵulīجَنَّتِىjannatī۝٣٠(30)Enter My Paradise.
