بِسْمِbismiٱللَّهِllāhiٱلرَّحْمَٰنِr-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِr-raḥīmIn the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.وَٱلْفَجْرِwal-fajr١(1)By the daybreak.وَلَيَالٍwalayālinعَشْرٖʕašr٢(2)And ten nights.وَٱلشَّفْعِwaš-šafʕiوَٱلْوَتْرِwal-watr٣(3)And the even and the odd.وَٱلَّيْلِwallayliإِذَا'iḏāيَسْرِyasr٤(4)And the night as it recedes.هَلْhalفِىfīذَٰلِكَḏālikaقَسَمٞqasamunلِّذِىliḏīحِجْرٍḥijr٥(5)Is there in this an oath for a rational person?أَلَمْ'alamتَرَtaraكَيْفَkayfaفَعَلَfaʕalaرَبُّكَrabbukaبِعَادٍbiʕād٦(6)Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Aad?إِرَمَ'iramaذَاتِḏātiٱلْعِمَادِl-ʕimād٧(7)Erum of the pillars.ٱلَّتِىallatīلَمْlamيُخْلَقْyuḵlaqمِثْلُهَاmiṯluhāفِىfīٱلْبِلَٰدِl-bilād٨(8)The like of which was never created in the land.وَثَمُودَwaṯamūdaٱلَّذِينَllaḏīnaجَابُوا۟jābūٱلصَّخْرَṣ-ṣaḵraبِٱلْوَادِbil-wād٩(9)And Thamood—those who carved the rocks in the valley.وَفِرْعَوْنَwafirʕawnaذِىḏīٱلْأَوْتَادِl-'awtād١٠(10)And Pharaoh of the Stakes.ٱلَّذِينَallaḏīnaطَغَوْا۟ṭaḡawفِىfīٱلْبِلَٰدِl-bilād١١(11)Those who committed excesses in the lands.فَأَكْثَرُوا۟fa'akṯarūفِيهَاfīhāٱلْفَسَادَl-fasād١٢(12)And spread much corruption therein.فَصَبَّfaṣabbaعَلَيْهِمْʕalayhimرَبُّكَrabbukaسَوْطَsawṭaعَذَابٍʕaḏāb١٣(13)So your Lord poured down upon them a scourge of punishment.إِنَّ'innaرَبَّكَrabbakaلَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِlabil-mirṣād١٤(14)Your Lord is on the lookout.فَأَمَّاfa'ammāٱلْإِنسَٰنُl-'insānuإِذَا'iḏāمَاmāٱبْتَلَىٰهُbtalāhuرَبُّهُۥrabbuhūفَأَكْرَمَهُۥfa'akramahūوَنَعَّمَهُۥwanaʕʕamahūفَيَقُولُfayaqūluرَبِّىٓrabbī~أَكْرَمَنِ'akraman١٥(15)As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and honors him, and prospers him, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”وَأَمَّآwa'ammā~إِذَا'iḏāمَاmāٱبْتَلَىٰهُbtalāhuفَقَدَرَfaqadaraعَلَيْهِʕalayhiرِزْقَهُۥrizqahūفَيَقُولُfayaqūluرَبِّىٓrabbī~أَهَٰنَنِ'ahānan١٦(16)But whenever He tests him, and restricts his livelihood for him, he says, “My Lord has insulted me.”كَلَّاۖkallāبَلbalلَّاlāتُكْرِمُونَtukrimūnaٱلْيَتِيمَl-yatīm١٧(17)Not at all. But you do not honor the orphan.وَلَاwalāتَحَٰٓضُّونَtaḥā~ḍḍūnaعَلَىٰʕalāطَعَامِṭaʕāmiٱلْمِسْكِينِl-miskīn١٨(18)And you do not urge the feeding of the poor.وَتَأْكُلُونَwata'kulūnaٱلتُّرَاثَt-turāṯaأَكْلٗا'aklanلَّمّٗاlammā١٩(19)And you devour inheritance with all greed.وَتُحِبُّونَwatuḥibbūnaٱلْمَالَl-mālaحُبّٗاḥubbanجَمّٗاjammā٢٠(20)And you love wealth with immense love.كَلَّآkallā~إِذَا'iḏāدُكَّتِdukkatiٱلْأَرْضُl-'arḍuدَكّٗاdakkanدَكّٗاdakkā٢١(21)No—when the earth is leveled, pounded, and crushed.وَجَآءَwajā~'aرَبُّكَrabbukaوَٱلْمَلَكُwal-malakuصَفّٗاṣaffanصَفّٗاṣaffā٢٢(22)And your Lord comes, with the angels, row after row.وَجِا۟ىٓءَwajī~'aيَوْمَئِذِۭyawma'iḏinبِجَهَنَّمَۚbijahannama,يَوْمَئِذٖyawma'iḏinيَتَذَكَّرُyataḏakkaruٱلْإِنسَٰنُl-'insānuوَأَنَّىٰwa'annāلَهُlahuٱلذِّكْرَىٰḏ-ḏikrā٢٣(23)And on that Day, Hell is brought forward. On that Day, man will remember, but how will remembrance avail him?يَقُولُyaqūluيَٰلَيْتَنِىyālaytanīقَدَّمْتُqaddamtuلِحَيَاتِىliḥayātī٢٤(24)He will say, “If only I had forwarded for my life.”فَيَوْمَئِذٖfayawma'iḏinلَّاlāيُعَذِّبُyuʕaḏḏibuعَذَابَهُۥٓʕaḏābahū~أَحَدٞ'aḥad٢٥(25)On that Day, none will punish as He punishes.وَلَاwalāيُوثِقُyūṯiquوَثَاقَهُۥٓwaṯāqahū~أَحَدٞ'aḥad٢٦(26)And none will shackle as He shackles.يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَاyā~'ayyatuhāٱلنَّفْسُn-nafsuٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُl-muṭma'innah٢٧(27)But as for you, O tranquil soul.ٱرْجِعِىٓirjiʕī~إِلَىٰ'ilāرَبِّكِrabbikiرَاضِيَةٗrāḍiyatanمَّرْضِيَّةٗmarḍiyyah٢٨(28)Return to your Lord, pleased and accepted.فَٱدْخُلِىfadḵulīفِىfīعِبَٰدِىʕibādī٢٩(29)Enter among My servants.وَٱدْخُلِىwadḵulīجَنَّتِىjannatī٣٠(30)Enter My Paradise.
