النازعاتAN-NĀZIʕĀTThe Snatchers

بِسْمِbismiٱللَّهِllāhiٱلرَّحْمَٰنِr-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِr-raḥīmIn the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِwan-nāziʕātiغَرْقٗاḡarqā۝١(1)By those who snatch violently.وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِwan-nāšiṭātiنَشْطٗاnašṭā۝٢(2)And those who remove gently.وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِwas-sābiḥātiسَبْحٗاsabḥā۝٣(3)And those who glide smoothly.فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِfas-sābiqātiسَبْقٗاsabqā۝٤(4)And those who race swiftly.فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِfal-mudabbirātiأَمْرٗا'amrā۝٥(5)And those who regulate events.يَوْمَyawmaتَرْجُفُtarjufuٱلرَّاجِفَةُr-rājifah۝٦(6)On the Day when the Quake quakes.تَتْبَعُهَاtatbaʕuhāٱلرَّادِفَةُr-rādifah۝٧(7)And is followed by the Successor.قُلُوبٞqulūbunيَوْمَئِذٖyawma'iḏinوَاجِفَةٌwājifah۝٨(8)Hearts on that Day will be pounding.أَبْصَٰرُهَا'abṣāruhāخَٰشِعَةٞḵāšiʕah۝٩(9)Their sights downcast.يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaأَءِنَّا'a'innāلَمَرْدُودُونَlamardūdūnaفِىٱلْحَافِرَةِl-ḥāfirah۝١٠(10)They say, “Are we to be restored to the original condition?أَءِذَا'a'iḏāكُنَّاkunnāعِظَٰمٗاʕiẓāmanنَّخِرَةٗnaḵirah۝١١(11)When we have become hollow bones?”قَالُوا۟qālūتِلْكَtilkaإِذٗا'iḏanكَرَّةٌkarratunخَاسِرَةٞḵāsirah۝١٢(12)They say, “This is a losing proposition.”فَإِنَّمَاfa'innamāهِىَhiyaزَجْرَةٞzajratunوَٰحِدَةٞwāḥidah۝١٣(13)But it will be only a single nudge.فَإِذَاfa'iḏāهُمhumبِٱلسَّاهِرَةِbis-sāhirah۝١٤(14)And they will be awake.هَلْhalأَتَىٰكَ'atākaحَدِيثُḥadīṯuمُوسَىٰٓmūsā~۝١٥(15)Has the story of Moses reached you? إِذْ'iḏنَادَىٰهُnādāhuرَبُّهُۥrabbuhūبِٱلْوَادِbil-wādiٱلْمُقَدَّسِl-muqaddasiطُوًىṭuwā۝١٦(16)When His Lord called out to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa.ٱذْهَبْiḏhabإِلَىٰ'ilāفِرْعَوْنَfirʕawnaإِنَّهُۥ'innahūطَغَىٰṭaḡā۝١٧(17)“Go to Pharaoh—he has transgressed.”فَقُلْfaqulهَلhalلَّكَlakaإِلَىٰٓ'ilā~أَن'anتَزَكَّىٰtazakkā۝١٨(18)And say, “Do you care to be cleansed?وَأَهْدِيَكَwa'ahdiyakaإِلَىٰ'ilāرَبِّكَrabbikaفَتَخْشَىٰfataḵšā۝١٩(19)And I will guide you to your Lord, and you will turn reverent.”فَأَرَىٰهُfa'arāhuٱلْـَٔايَةَl-'āyataٱلْكُبْرَىٰl-kubrā۝٢٠(20)He showed him the Greatest Miracle.فَكَذَّبَfakaḏḏabaوَعَصَىٰwaʕaṣā۝٢١(21)But he denied and defied.ثُمَّṯummaأَدْبَرَ'adbaraيَسْعَىٰyasʕā۝٢٢(22)Then turned his back, and tried.فَحَشَرَfaḥašaraفَنَادَىٰfanādā۝٢٣(23)And gathered and proclaimed.فَقَالَfaqālaأَنَا۠'anaرَبُّكُمُrabbukumuٱلْأَعْلَىٰl-'aʕlā۝٢٤(24)He said, “I am your Lord, the most high.”فَأَخَذَهُfa'aḵaḏahuٱللَّهُllāhuنَكَالَnakālaٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-'āḵiratiوَٱلْأُولَىٰٓwal-'ūlā~۝٢٥(25)So Allah seized him with an exemplary punishment, in the last and in the first.إِنَّ'innaفِىذَٰلِكَḏālikaلَعِبْرَةٗlaʕibratanلِّمَنlimanيَخْشَىٰٓyaḵšā~۝٢٦(26)In this is a lesson for whoever fears.ءَأَنتُمْ'a'antumأَشَدُّ'ašadduخَلْقًاḵalqanأَمِ'amiٱلسَّمَآءُۚs-samā~'u ,بَنَىٰهَاbanāhā۝٢٧(27)Are you more difficult to create, or the heaven? He constructed it.رَفَعَrafaʕaسَمْكَهَاsamkahāفَسَوَّىٰهَاfasawwāhā۝٢٨(28)He raised its masses, and proportioned it.وَأَغْطَشَwa'aḡṭašaلَيْلَهَاlaylahāوَأَخْرَجَwa'aḵrajaضُحَىٰهَاḍuḥāhā۝٢٩(29)And He dimmed its night, and brought out its daylight.وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-'arḍaبَعْدَbaʕdaذَٰلِكَḏālikaدَحَىٰهَآdaḥāhā~۝٣٠(30)And the earth after that He spread.أَخْرَجَ'aḵrajaمِنْهَاminhāمَآءَهَاmā~'ahāوَمَرْعَىٰهَاwamarʕāhā۝٣١(31)And from it, He produced its water and its pasture.وَٱلْجِبَالَwal-jibālaأَرْسَىٰهَا'arsāhā۝٣٢(32)And the mountains, He anchored.مَتَٰعٗاmatāʕanلَّكُمْlakumوَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْwali'anʕāmikum۝٣٣(33)A source of enjoyment for you and for your animals.فَإِذَاfa'iḏāجَآءَتِjā~'atiٱلطَّآمَّةُṭ-ṭā~mmatuٱلْكُبْرَىٰl-kubrā۝٣٤(34)But when the Great Cataclysm arrives.يَوْمَyawmaيَتَذَكَّرُyataḏakkaruٱلْإِنسَٰنُl-'insānuمَاسَعَىٰsaʕā۝٣٥(35)A Day when man will remember what he has endeavored.وَبُرِّزَتِwaburrizatiٱلْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuلِمَنlimanيَرَىٰyarā۝٣٦(36)And Hell will be displayed to whoever sees.فَأَمَّاfa'ammāمَنmanطَغَىٰṭaḡā۝٣٧(37)As for him who was defiant.وَءَاثَرَwa'āṯaraٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayātaٱلدُّنْيَاd-dunyā۝٣٨(38)And preferred the life of this world.فَإِنَّfa'innaٱلْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīmaهِىَhiyaٱلْمَأْوَىٰl-ma'wā۝٣٩(39)Then Hell is the shelter.وَأَمَّاwa'ammāمَنْmanخَافَḵāfaمَقَامَmaqāmaرَبِّهِۦrabbihīوَنَهَىwanahāٱلنَّفْسَn-nafsaعَنِʕaniٱلْهَوَىٰl-hawā۝٤٠(40)But as for him who feared the Standing of his Lord, and restrained the self from desires.فَإِنَّfa'innaٱلْجَنَّةَl-jannataهِىَhiyaٱلْمَأْوَىٰl-ma'wā۝٤١(41)Then Paradise is the shelter.يَسْـَٔلُونَكَyas'alūnakaعَنِʕaniٱلسَّاعَةِs-sāʕatiأَيَّانَ'ayyānaمُرْسَىٰهَاmursāhā۝٤٢(42)They ask you about the Hour, “When will it take place?”فِيمَfīmaأَنتَ'antaمِنminذِكْرَىٰهَآḏikrāhā~۝٤٣(43)You have no knowledge of it.إِلَىٰ'ilāرَبِّكَrabbikaمُنتَهَىٰهَآmuntahāhā~۝٤٤(44)To your Lord is its finality.إِنَّمَآ'innamā~أَنتَ'antaمُنذِرُmunḏiruمَنmanيَخْشَىٰهَاyaḵšāhā۝٤٥(45)You are just a warner for whoever dreads it.كَأَنَّهُمْka'annahumيَوْمَyawmaيَرَوْنَهَاyarawnahāلَمْlamيَلْبَثُوٓا۟yalbaṯū~إِلَّا'illāعَشِيَّةًʕašiyyatanأَوْ'awضُحَىٰهَاḍuḥāhā۝٤٦(46)On the Day when they witness it—as though they only stayed an evening, or its morning.
