بِسْمِbismiٱللَّهِllāhiٱلرَّحْمَٰنِr-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِr-raḥīmIn the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِwan-nāziʕātiغَرْقٗاḡarqā١(1)By those who snatch violently.وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِwan-nāšiṭātiنَشْطٗاnašṭā٢(2)And those who remove gently.وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِwas-sābiḥātiسَبْحٗاsabḥā٣(3)And those who glide smoothly.فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِfas-sābiqātiسَبْقٗاsabqā٤(4)And those who race swiftly.فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِfal-mudabbirātiأَمْرٗا'amrā٥(5)And those who regulate events.يَوْمَyawmaتَرْجُفُtarjufuٱلرَّاجِفَةُr-rājifah٦(6)On the Day when the Quake quakes.تَتْبَعُهَاtatbaʕuhāٱلرَّادِفَةُr-rādifah٧(7)And is followed by the Successor.قُلُوبٞqulūbunيَوْمَئِذٖyawma'iḏinوَاجِفَةٌwājifah٨(8)Hearts on that Day will be pounding.أَبْصَٰرُهَا'abṣāruhāخَٰشِعَةٞḵāšiʕah٩(9)Their sights downcast.يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaأَءِنَّا'a'innāلَمَرْدُودُونَlamardūdūnaفِىfīٱلْحَافِرَةِl-ḥāfirah١٠(10)They say, “Are we to be restored to the original condition?أَءِذَا'a'iḏāكُنَّاkunnāعِظَٰمٗاʕiẓāmanنَّخِرَةٗnaḵirah١١(11)When we have become hollow bones?”قَالُوا۟qālūتِلْكَtilkaإِذٗا'iḏanكَرَّةٌkarratunخَاسِرَةٞḵāsirah١٢(12)They say, “This is a losing proposition.”فَإِنَّمَاfa'innamāهِىَhiyaزَجْرَةٞzajratunوَٰحِدَةٞwāḥidah١٣(13)But it will be only a single nudge.فَإِذَاfa'iḏāهُمhumبِٱلسَّاهِرَةِbis-sāhirah١٤(14)And they will be awake.هَلْhalأَتَىٰكَ'atākaحَدِيثُḥadīṯuمُوسَىٰٓmūsā~١٥(15)Has the story of Moses reached you? إِذْ'iḏنَادَىٰهُnādāhuرَبُّهُۥrabbuhūبِٱلْوَادِbil-wādiٱلْمُقَدَّسِl-muqaddasiطُوًىṭuwā١٦(16)When His Lord called out to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa.ٱذْهَبْiḏhabإِلَىٰ'ilāفِرْعَوْنَfirʕawnaإِنَّهُۥ'innahūطَغَىٰṭaḡā١٧(17)“Go to Pharaoh—he has transgressed.”فَقُلْfaqulهَلhalلَّكَlakaإِلَىٰٓ'ilā~أَن'anتَزَكَّىٰtazakkā١٨(18)And say, “Do you care to be cleansed?وَأَهْدِيَكَwa'ahdiyakaإِلَىٰ'ilāرَبِّكَrabbikaفَتَخْشَىٰfataḵšā١٩(19)And I will guide you to your Lord, and you will turn reverent.”فَأَرَىٰهُfa'arāhuٱلْـَٔايَةَl-'āyataٱلْكُبْرَىٰl-kubrā٢٠(20)He showed him the Greatest Miracle.فَكَذَّبَfakaḏḏabaوَعَصَىٰwaʕaṣā٢١(21)But he denied and defied.ثُمَّṯummaأَدْبَرَ'adbaraيَسْعَىٰyasʕā٢٢(22)Then turned his back, and tried.فَحَشَرَfaḥašaraفَنَادَىٰfanādā٢٣(23)And gathered and proclaimed.فَقَالَfaqālaأَنَا۠'anaرَبُّكُمُrabbukumuٱلْأَعْلَىٰl-'aʕlā٢٤(24)He said, “I am your Lord, the most high.”فَأَخَذَهُfa'aḵaḏahuٱللَّهُllāhuنَكَالَnakālaٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-'āḵiratiوَٱلْأُولَىٰٓwal-'ūlā~٢٥(25)So Allah seized him with an exemplary punishment, in the last and in the first.إِنَّ'innaفِىfīذَٰلِكَḏālikaلَعِبْرَةٗlaʕibratanلِّمَنlimanيَخْشَىٰٓyaḵšā~٢٦(26)In this is a lesson for whoever fears.ءَأَنتُمْ'a'antumأَشَدُّ'ašadduخَلْقًاḵalqanأَمِ'amiٱلسَّمَآءُۚs-samā~'u,بَنَىٰهَاbanāhā٢٧(27)Are you more difficult to create, or the heaven? He constructed it.رَفَعَrafaʕaسَمْكَهَاsamkahāفَسَوَّىٰهَاfasawwāhā٢٨(28)He raised its masses, and proportioned it.وَأَغْطَشَwa'aḡṭašaلَيْلَهَاlaylahāوَأَخْرَجَwa'aḵrajaضُحَىٰهَاḍuḥāhā٢٩(29)And He dimmed its night, and brought out its daylight.وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-'arḍaبَعْدَbaʕdaذَٰلِكَḏālikaدَحَىٰهَآdaḥāhā~٣٠(30)And the earth after that He spread.أَخْرَجَ'aḵrajaمِنْهَاminhāمَآءَهَاmā~'ahāوَمَرْعَىٰهَاwamarʕāhā٣١(31)And from it, He produced its water and its pasture.وَٱلْجِبَالَwal-jibālaأَرْسَىٰهَا'arsāhā٣٢(32)And the mountains, He anchored.مَتَٰعٗاmatāʕanلَّكُمْlakumوَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْwali'anʕāmikum٣٣(33)A source of enjoyment for you and for your animals.فَإِذَاfa'iḏāجَآءَتِjā~'atiٱلطَّآمَّةُṭ-ṭā~mmatuٱلْكُبْرَىٰl-kubrā٣٤(34)But when the Great Cataclysm arrives.يَوْمَyawmaيَتَذَكَّرُyataḏakkaruٱلْإِنسَٰنُl-'insānuمَاmāسَعَىٰsaʕā٣٥(35)A Day when man will remember what he has endeavored.وَبُرِّزَتِwaburrizatiٱلْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuلِمَنlimanيَرَىٰyarā٣٦(36)And Hell will be displayed to whoever sees.فَأَمَّاfa'ammāمَنmanطَغَىٰṭaḡā٣٧(37)As for him who was defiant.وَءَاثَرَwa'āṯaraٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayātaٱلدُّنْيَاd-dunyā٣٨(38)And preferred the life of this world.فَإِنَّfa'innaٱلْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīmaهِىَhiyaٱلْمَأْوَىٰl-ma'wā٣٩(39)Then Hell is the shelter.وَأَمَّاwa'ammāمَنْmanخَافَḵāfaمَقَامَmaqāmaرَبِّهِۦrabbihīوَنَهَىwanahāٱلنَّفْسَn-nafsaعَنِʕaniٱلْهَوَىٰl-hawā٤٠(40)But as for him who feared the Standing of his Lord, and restrained the self from desires.فَإِنَّfa'innaٱلْجَنَّةَl-jannataهِىَhiyaٱلْمَأْوَىٰl-ma'wā٤١(41)Then Paradise is the shelter.يَسْـَٔلُونَكَyas'alūnakaعَنِʕaniٱلسَّاعَةِs-sāʕatiأَيَّانَ'ayyānaمُرْسَىٰهَاmursāhā٤٢(42)They ask you about the Hour, “When will it take place?”فِيمَfīmaأَنتَ'antaمِنminذِكْرَىٰهَآḏikrāhā~٤٣(43)You have no knowledge of it.إِلَىٰ'ilāرَبِّكَrabbikaمُنتَهَىٰهَآmuntahāhā~٤٤(44)To your Lord is its finality.إِنَّمَآ'innamā~أَنتَ'antaمُنذِرُmunḏiruمَنmanيَخْشَىٰهَاyaḵšāhā٤٥(45)You are just a warner for whoever dreads it.كَأَنَّهُمْka'annahumيَوْمَyawmaيَرَوْنَهَاyarawnahāلَمْlamيَلْبَثُوٓا۟yalbaṯū~إِلَّا'illāعَشِيَّةًʕašiyyatanأَوْ'awضُحَىٰهَاḍuḥāhā٤٦(46)On the Day when they witness it—as though they only stayed an evening, or its morning.
