بِسْمِbismiٱللَّهِllāhiٱلرَّحْمَٰنِr-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِr-raḥīmIn the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.يَٰٓأَيُّهَاyā~'ayyuhāٱلْمُدَّثِّرُl-muddaṯṯir١(1)O you Enrobed one.قُمْqumفَأَنذِرْfa'anḏir٢(2)Arise and warn.وَرَبَّكَwarabbakaفَكَبِّرْfakabbir٣(3)And magnify your Lord.وَثِيَابَكَwaṯiyābakaفَطَهِّرْfaṭahhir٤(4)And purify your clothes.وَٱلرُّجْزَwar-rujzaفَٱهْجُرْfahjur٥(5)And abandon abominations.وَلَاwalāتَمْنُنtamnunتَسْتَكْثِرُtastakṯir٦(6)And show no favor seeking gain.وَلِرَبِّكَwalirabbikaفَٱصْبِرْfaṣbir٧(7)And be constant for your Lord.فَإِذَاfa'iḏāنُقِرَnuqiraفِىfīٱلنَّاقُورِn-nāqūr٨(8)When the Trumpet is blown.فَذَٰلِكَfaḏālikaيَوْمَئِذٖyawma'iḏinيَوْمٌyawmunعَسِيرٌʕasīr٩(9)That Day will be a difficult day.عَلَىʕalāٱلْكَٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnaغَيْرُḡayruيَسِيرٖyasīr١٠(10)For the disbelievers—not easy.ذَرْنِىḏarnīوَمَنْwamanخَلَقْتُḵalaqtuوَحِيدٗاwaḥīdā١١(11)Leave Me to him whom I created alone.وَجَعَلْتُwajaʕaltuلَهُۥlahūمَالٗاmālanمَّمْدُودٗاmamdūdā١٢(12)And gave him vast wealth.وَبَنِينَwabanīnaشُهُودٗاšuhūdā١٣(13)And children as witnesses.وَمَهَّدتُّwamahhadttuلَهُۥlahūتَمْهِيدٗاtamhīdā١٤(14)And smoothed things for him.ثُمَّṯummaيَطْمَعُyaṭmaʕuأَنْ'anأَزِيدَ'azīd١٥(15)Then he wants Me to add yet more!كَلَّآۖkallā~إِنَّهُۥ'innahūكَانَkānaلِـَٔايَٰتِنَاli'āyātināعَنِيدٗاʕanīdā١٦(16)By no means! He was stubborn towards Our revelations.سَأُرْهِقُهُۥsa'urhiquhūصَعُودًاṣaʕūdā١٧(17)I will exhaust him increasingly.إِنَّهُۥ'innahūفَكَّرَfakkaraوَقَدَّرَwaqaddar١٨(18)He thought and analyzed.فَقُتِلَfaqutilaكَيْفَkayfaقَدَّرَqaddar١٩(19)May he perish, how he analyzed.ثُمَّṯummaقُتِلَqutilaكَيْفَkayfaقَدَّرَqaddar٢٠(20)Again: may he perish, how he analyzed.ثُمَّṯummaنَظَرَnaẓar٢١(21)Then he looked.ثُمَّṯummaعَبَسَʕabasaوَبَسَرَwabasar٢٢(22)Then he frowned and whined.ثُمَّṯummaأَدْبَرَ'adbaraوَٱسْتَكْبَرَwastakbar٢٣(23)Then he turned back and was proud.فَقَالَfaqālaإِنْ'inهَٰذَآhāḏā~إِلَّا'illāسِحْرٞsiḥrunيُؤْثَرُyu'ṯar٢٤(24)And said, “This is nothing but magic from the past.إِنْ'inهَٰذَآhāḏā~إِلَّا'illāقَوْلُqawluٱلْبَشَرِl-bašar٢٥(25)This is nothing but the word of a mortal.”سَأُصْلِيهِsa'uṣlīhiسَقَرَsaqar٢٦(26)I will roast him in Saqar.وَمَآwamā~أَدْرَىٰكَ'adrākaمَاmāسَقَرُsaqar٢٧(27)But what will explain to you what Saqar is?لَاlāتُبْقِىtubqīوَلَاwalāتَذَرُtaḏar٢٨(28)It neither leaves, nor spares.لَوَّاحَةٞlawwāḥatunلِّلْبَشَرِlilbašar٢٩(29)It scorches the flesh.عَلَيْهَاʕalayhāتِسْعَةَtisʕataعَشَرَʕašar٣٠(30)Over it are Nineteen.وَمَاwamāجَعَلْنَآjaʕalnā~أَصْحَٰبَ'aṣḥābaٱلنَّارِn-nāriإِلَّا'illāمَلَٰٓئِكَةٗۙmalā~'ikatanوَمَاwamāجَعَلْنَاjaʕalnāعِدَّتَهُمْʕiddatahumإِلَّا'illāفِتْنَةٗfitnatanلِّلَّذِينَlillaḏīnaكَفَرُوا۟kafarūلِيَسْتَيْقِنَliyastayqinaٱلَّذِينَllaḏīnaأُوتُوا۟'ūtūٱلْكِتَٰبَl-kitābaوَيَزْدَادَwayazdādaٱلَّذِينَllaḏīnaءَامَنُوٓا۟'āmanū~إِيمَٰنٗاۙ'īmānanوَلَاwalāيَرْتَابَyartābaٱلَّذِينَllaḏīnaأُوتُوا۟'ūtūٱلْكِتَٰبَl-kitābaوَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَۙwal-mu'minūnaوَلِيَقُولَwaliyaqūlaٱلَّذِينَllaḏīnaفِىfīقُلُوبِهِمqulūbihimمَّرَضٞmaraḍunوَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَwal-kāfirūnaمَاذَآmāḏā~أَرَادَ'arādaٱللَّهُllāhuبِهَٰذَاbihāḏāمَثَلٗاۚmaṯalan,كَذَٰلِكَkaḏālikaيُضِلُّyuḍilluٱللَّهُllāhuمَنmanيَشَآءُyašā~'uوَيَهْدِىwayahdīمَنmanيَشَآءُۚyašā~'u,وَمَاwamāيَعْلَمُyaʕlamuجُنُودَjunūdaرَبِّكَrabbikaإِلَّا'illāهُوَۚhuwa,وَمَاwamāهِىَhiyaإِلَّا'illāذِكْرَىٰḏikrāلِلْبَشَرِlilbašar٣١(31)We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and caused their number to be a stumbling block for those who disbelieve; so that those given the Scripture may attain certainty; and those who believe may increase in faith; and those given the Scripture and the believers may not doubt; and those in whose hearts is sickness and the unbelievers may say, “What did Allah intend by this parable?” Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. None knows the soldiers of your Lord except He. This is nothing but a reminder for the mortals.كَلَّاkallāوَٱلْقَمَرِwal-qamar٣٢(32)Nay! By the moon.وَٱلَّيْلِwallayliإِذْ'iḏأَدْبَرَ'adbar٣٣(33)And the night as it retreats.وَٱلصُّبْحِwaṣ-ṣubḥiإِذَآ'iḏā~أَسْفَرَ'asfar٣٤(34)And the morning as it lights up.إِنَّهَا'innahāلَإِحْدَىla'iḥdāٱلْكُبَرِl-kubar٣٥(35)It is one of the greatest.نَذِيرٗاnaḏīranلِّلْبَشَرِlilbašar٣٦(36)A warning to the mortals.لِمَنlimanشَآءَšā~'aمِنكُمْminkumأَن'anيَتَقَدَّمَyataqaddamaأَوْ'awيَتَأَخَّرَyata'aḵḵar٣٧(37)To whomever among you wishes to advance, or regress.كُلُّkulluنَفْسِۭnafsinبِمَاbimāكَسَبَتْkasabatرَهِينَةٌrahīnah٣٨(38)Every soul is hostage to what it has earned.إِلَّآ'illā~أَصْحَٰبَ'aṣḥābaٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīn٣٩(39)Except for those on the Right.فِىfīجَنَّٰتٖjannātinيَتَسَآءَلُونَyatasā~'alūn٤٠(40)In Gardens, inquiring.عَنِʕaniٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-mujrimīn٤١(41)About the guilty.مَاmāسَلَكَكُمْsalakakumفِىfīسَقَرَsaqar٤٢(42)“What drove you into Saqar?”قَالُوا۟qālūلَمْlamنَكُnakuمِنَminaٱلْمُصَلِّينَl-muṣallīn٤٣(43)They will say, “We were not of those who prayed.وَلَمْwalamنَكُnakuنُطْعِمُnuṭʕimuٱلْمِسْكِينَl-miskīn٤٤(44)Nor did we feed the destitute.وَكُنَّاwakunnāنَخُوضُnaḵūḍuمَعَmaʕaٱلْخَآئِضِينَl-ḵā~'iḍīn٤٥(45)And we used to indulge with those who indulge.وَكُنَّاwakunnāنُكَذِّبُnukaḏḏibuبِيَوْمِbiyawmiٱلدِّينِd-dīn٤٦(46)And we used to deny the Day of Judgment.حَتَّىٰٓḥattā~أَتَىٰنَا'atānāٱلْيَقِينُl-yaqīn٤٧(47)Until the Inevitable came upon us.”فَمَاfamāتَنفَعُهُمْtanfaʕuhumشَفَٰعَةُšafāʕatuٱلشَّٰفِعِينَš-šāfiʕīn٤٨(48)But the intercession of intercessors will not help them. فَمَاfamāلَهُمْlahumعَنِʕaniٱلتَّذْكِرَةِt-taḏkiratiمُعْرِضِينَmuʕriḍīn٤٩(49)Why are they turning away from the Reminder?كَأَنَّهُمْka'annahumحُمُرٞḥumurunمُّسْتَنفِرَةٞmustanfirah٥٠(50)As though they were panicked donkeys.فَرَّتْfarratمِنminقَسْوَرَةِۭqaswarah٥١(51)Fleeing from a lion?بَلْbalيُرِيدُyurīduكُلُّkulluٱمْرِئٖmri'inمِّنْهُمْminhumأَن'anيُؤْتَىٰyu'tāصُحُفٗاṣuḥufanمُّنَشَّرَةٗmunaššarah٥٢(52)Yet every one of them desires to be given scrolls unrolled.كَلَّاۖkallāبَلbalلَّاlāيَخَافُونَyaḵāfūnaٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَl-'āḵirah٥٣(53)No indeed! But they do not fear the Hereafter.كَلَّآkallā~إِنَّهُۥ'innahūتَذْكِرَةٞtaḏkirah٥٤(54)Nevertheless, it is a reminder.فَمَنfamanشَآءَšā~'aذَكَرَهُۥḏakarahū٥٥(55)So whoever wills, shall remember it.وَمَاwamāيَذْكُرُونَyaḏkurūnaإِلَّآ'illā~أَن'anيَشَآءَyašā~'aٱللَّهُۚllāhu,هُوَhuwaأَهْلُ'ahluٱلتَّقْوَىٰt-taqwāوَأَهْلُwa'ahluٱلْمَغْفِرَةِl-maḡfirah٥٦(56)But they will not remember, unless Allah wills. He is the Source of Righteousness, and the Source of Forgiveness.
